
A minor was found dead with multiple stab wounds in a sugarcane field in Sitio Pinasagan, Barangay Linantuyan, Guihulngan City, on Tuesday, September 30.
The victim was discovered without any clothes on at 8:30 a.m., the police said.
Authorities immediately secured the crime scene and coordinated with the City Health Office for a post-mortem examination.
Witnesses later identified the suspect, leading to a hot pursuit operation that resulted in the arrest of alias “Wil,” 33, a farmer and resident of Brgy. Linantuyan, at about 3:10 p.m. Tuesday.
A bladed weapon believed to have been used in the crime was also recovered.
BGen. Arnold Thomas C. Ibay, Police Regional Office Negros Island Region regional director, condemned the incident, calling violence against women and children a grave offense that will never be tolerated.
“We share the grief of the victim’s family and stand with the community in demanding justice. PRO NIR is committed to exhausting all means to bring the suspect to justice and ensure that such atrocities have no place in Negros Island,” Ibay said.
The suspect remains in police custody while charges are being prepared.*
