The Megaworld Corporation, together with Alliance Global Group Inc. (AGI), have initiated a collaborative endeavor to provide essential aid to the affected communities of Bacolod City.
The relief efforts were done in response to the recent declaration of a state of calamity by Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez on August 30, a press release from Megaworld said Tuesday, September 12.
The calamity was declared after severe flooding ravaged the city, with a staggering 33 out of 61 barangays submerged in floodwaters.
AGI and Megaworld Corporation have donated 224 boxes of canned goods and instant noodles.
Megaworld Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of Megaworld Corporation, also sent 500 kilos of rice, the press release said.
“We believe in the spirit of ‘bayanihan’ during challenging times. Every act of kindness counts, and Megaworld Corporation, through Megaworld Foundation, is proud to be part of the collective effort to bring hope and relief to the people of Bacolod City as they recover from the calamitous rains that happened,” Megaworld Foundation president Francis Canuto said.
The local government of Bacolod City continues to coordinate with Megaworld and various organizations to provide assistance to the affected residents and restore normalcy to the city as swiftly as possible. *
