Hinigaran Mayor Jose Nadie Arceo is asking the Philippine National Police chief to reassign the husband of his political opponent from a top Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) post.

Arceo said Friday, January 7, that he sent a letter to PGen. Dionardo Carlos, PNP chief, asking him not to appoint PBrig. Gen. Randy Peralta to the post of deputy director for administration of the PNP-CIDG.

Arceo said Mitchelle Cordova Peralta, the wife of the police officer, is running for mayor of Hinigaran in the May 9 election.

He has received information that PLt. Col. Santi Mendoza, a close friend of Peralta, has also been appointed provincial director of the CIDG in Negros Occidental, Arceo also said.

“In the interest of an open, fair and honest conduct of elections,” Arceo said he is objecting to the appointments of Peralta and Mendoza.

He asked the PNP chief to relieve or reassign them to other posts so “they could not directly influence the outcome of the elections.”*
