Mayor submits proposed P3.25B annual budget for 2023 to SP

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez has submitted the proposed P3.25 billion Bacolod City annual budget for 2023 to the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod.

The proposed budget was calendered in the council’s regular session Wednesday, October 12, and was accepted by the SP committee on appropriations and finance chaired by Councilor Jude Thaddeus Sayson.

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran said that the committee is expected to call for committee hearings, adding that the SP still has two months to approve the proposed budget.

He added that the proposed allocation for next year is the same as the current year.

The bulk of the proposed budget was allocated to Maintenance and Other Operating Expenditures at P1.413 billion, or 43.51 percent of the fund, followed by Personal Services at P910.710 million, or 28.02 percent.

Other allocations went to the Special Purpose Appropriations at P357.957 million, 20 percent Development Fund at P357.841 million, Property, Plant and Equipment at P147.074 million, and Financial Expenses at P62.416 million.

Benitez, in the budget proposal, said the city aims to maximize its P3.25 billion budget to its best potential.

“For the year 2023, the Bacolod will experience growth and progress as this administration
works to develop infrastructures, create stable and modernized health facilities, improve economic
stability through local investments. The combination of people-centered delivery of basic services
and innovation through urban development is key to making sure that each individual Bacolodnon
experiences the ‘asenso’ in their quality of life,” he added.*
