Mayor Mark Golez has placed 19 Silay City government offices within the Silay City Hall and compound under zoning containment or temporary lockdown from May 24 to 28 for disinfection and to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.
There are eight Silay City government employees who have tested positive for COVID-19 and two other probable cases, Silay City Administrator Edward Davila said Sunday, May 23.
The Office of the Mayor and City Administrator’s Office will remain open, he said.
Golez, in Special Executive Order 2021-05-07, said there is a need to strategically contain possible transmission of the virus among the 19 offices.
Placed under zoning containment are the City Legal Office, City Assessor’s Office, Bids and Awards Committee Office, City Accounting Office, Internal Audit Office, City Budget Office, City Nutrition Office, Community Affairs Office, Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office, Pantawid Office;
City Treasurer’s Office, Business Permits and Licensing Office, City Environment and Natural Resources Office, Housing Office, Public Employment Service Office, Information Technology Office, Human Resource and Management Office, Office of the Register of Deeds, and Commission on Audit Silay City Satellite Office.
No one will be allowed entry into the 19 offices, with the exemption of city government employees and job order personnel who will form part of the skeletal workforce, the mayor said.
The other city government offices not mentioned will maintain their regular operations to ensure the continuity of the delivery of basic essential services, Golez said.
Golez reminded them to adopt stricter observation of health and community quarantine protocols at all times.
During the five-day zoning containment the Silay City Health Office and the Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office will conduct intensive contact tracing and disinfecting, he said.
The mayor said all city employees, including job order personnel, who have respiratory infection, immuno-deficiency illness and influenza-like illness as certified by the CHO, should work from home.
Those who manifest signs and symptoms of COVID-19 or have immediate family members who test positive for the virus must also work from home, he added.*
