Mayor issues EO setting guidelines for PWD cards

Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez has issued an executive order setting new guidelines for the issuance of Persons With Disability (PWD) identification cards, and stipulating that the validity of the old IDs will only be until April 30.

Benitez signed Executive Order No. 10 Series of 2024 establishing the guidelines for the PWD cards on Tuesday, February 27.

The EO states that all previously issued Bacolod City PWD cards without QR codes or security features are being recalled for reissuance of new ones.

The new PWD cards will bear the city’s official seal and approved QR codes that originate from the City’s Management and Information Technology Computer Services (MITCS).

The PWD Office of the City’s Department of Social Services Development will be the implementing office in the issuance of the new PWD cards.

The renewal will be available at the Government Services Express Office at SM City Bacolod, Bacolod Express Service Office at Ayala Malls Capitol Central, and at Barangay Health Stations.

The EO also said that for renewal of PWD cards, applicants must bring their old cards and submit a 1×1 photo and medical certificate.

The new PWD cards issued by the Bacolod City government will be the basis for the provision of special privileges and discounts to bonafide PWDs under Republic Act 9442 or the Magna Carta for Disabled Persons, and other related laws, the EO said.*
