MassKara streetdance top prize P1M, SP okays P5.35M for 30 barangays

The grand prize of the MassKara Festival streetdance and arena competition in Bacolod City on October 23 will be P1 million, festival director Pinky Mirano Ocampo said Wednesday, September 21.

The top prize for the Electric MassKara Float and Dance Off Competition on October 22 will be P300,000, she added.

The streetdance and arena competition will be held at the Paglaum Stadium, while the Electric MassKara will be held at Megaworld’s Upper East and will proceed to the Bacolod City Government Center.

The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) on Wednesday, September 21, also approved the allocation of P5.35 million for 30 barangays joining the two MassKara competitions.

The 17 barangays of Bacolod City that will be joining the MassKara Streetdance and Arena competition will each get a P200,000 financial assistance from the city government.

This after the members of the SP approved the memoranda of agreement between the city and the 17 barangays represented by their chairmen during their regular session.

The 17 villages are Alangilan, Alijis, Singcang-Airport, Estefania, Granada, Sum-ag, Tangub, 22, 7, 34, 26, 31, 27, 14, 12, 35, and 40.

The SP also approved the proposed MOA between the city and the 13 barangays that will be joining the Electric MassKara.

Each barangay will get P150,000 financial assistance.

These are Barangays 5, 32, 39, 20, 1, 17, 3, 29, 23, 6, 16, 4 and 25.

The MassKara Festival, which will be held from October 1 to 23, is returning after a two-year hiatus caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.*
