MassKara kids runway, zumba held at BCGC

The SuperCity’s Little Trendsetter participants.*

A gathering of Zumba groups in Negros Occidental, a 42-kilometer marathon around Bacolod, and a runway of kids wearing festive costumes highlighted the first weekend of festivities in this year’s MassKara Festival at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC), October 7 and 8.

Kids wearing creative masks and costumes joined the SuperCity’s Little Trendsetter at the BCGC stage a Sunday night.

The event gave the spotlight to children to wear their smiles and raise awareness on oral health through the short talk from the Philippine Dental Association.

Ten-year-old Jaiane Hadraniel Villacuatro and 12-year-old Messi Jyno Luiz Cervera were both hailed as the SuperCity Little Trendsetters and received P2,500 worth of gift packs.

Villacuatro won the best in production number award.

Of the 15 contestants in the event, Brianna Prince Balsomo, 8, bagged special awards for best runway, best festive outfit, and crowd favorite.

Khacey Madison Zamora, 6, also won best festive outfit together with Tisha Mari Espeleta, 11, who bagged the Most Comfydent Smile.

Other contestants were Shiloh Marae Buenaflor, 9, Divine Marie Balibad, 7, Franz Athena, 8, Janaia Nicole Baylon, 6, Martha Christine Ebro, 7, Elleana Benjamin, 8, Kassandra Mishka Daclan, 9, Xiamara Kim Rizare, 7, Hanah Victoria Feria, 11, and Paula Arellano, 10.

Meanwhile, hundreds of Bacoleños and other athletes from around the country also joined the MassKara Marathon that started at midnight of Oct. 8.

The event had four distance categories which were 42K, 21K, 10K, and 5K.

Zumba groups around Negros Occidental also gathered Saturday afternoon at the BCGC grounds for a three-hour Zumba exercise.

The “MassKara Zumba Party” was attended by hundreds of Zumba-goers and enthusiasts from various groups around the province.*
