Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez described the just concluded 44th MassKara Festival as very successful.
“It shows that if we are all together working as one we can really make a very successful event,” he said on Monday, October 23.
The mayor, who thanked all those who worked for the success of the festival, said “it was a fun, exciting and a well-staged event.”
The MassKara Festival is an important event for Bacolod City because it is “our ticket to the world”, he said.
A world class MassKara will put Bacolod on the map, Benitez said.
Benitez said the police also deserve a pat on the back for keeping the festival peaceful and safe.
The mayor pointed out that huge crowds showed up at the various MassKara sites during the festival.
The mayor said he went around the MassKara sites early Monday morning to ensure that Bacolod’s streets were cleaned and cleared after the festival.
Benitez said there is a television network that is proposing to cover the MassKara Festival live next year because they find it very entertaining.
The mayor also said he will work at making food the heart of Bacolod’s tourism attractions.
There will be more exciting activities that will be part of Bacolod’s future MassKara festivals, Benitez said.
The mayor also said he has received inquiries from several foreign embassies asking to be part of the MassKara Festival, and invitations for the MassKara performers to perform in other parts of the world.
As the city moves forward to the global stage, making Bacolod a super city will soon also become a reality, Benitez said.*
