Mansinares appointed DOT regional director

Cristine Mansinares has been appointed regional director of the Department of Tourism in Western Visayas, the DOT announced Tuesday, August 10.

“Expectations are high when managing Region 6, after all, it includes developing and overseeing tourism programs and operations in our country’s crown-jewel: Boracay. Moreover, the task during the pandemic also involves vaccination drives for tourism workers,” Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo Puyat told DIGICAST NEGROS.

It was in this difficult time where Mansinares showed her leadership capabilities as then OIC-regional director, and now regional director, Puyat said, adding: “I am confident that she will deliver and get the job done”.

A tourism advocate, Mansinares brings to the DOT her 15 years of extensive experience and has proven her competence in the industry as a tourism officer having served the sector under various capacities, Puyat said.

Prior to her assignment in 2020 as Chief Tourism Operations Officer of DOT Region 6, Mansinares was provincial tourism officer of Negros Occidental. She also led in steering the Sipalay City tourism sector when she was the local government unit’s tourism executive, Puyat added.

Mansinares thanked President Rodrigo Duterte and Puyat for giving her “the privilege to serve Western Visayas, one of the biggest regions of the country”.

“The rehabilitation and recovery of the tourism industry are major challenges that the region has to deal with, together with key industry stakeholders, in the light of the COVID-19 crisis,” she said

Mansinares obtained her law degree from the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos in Bacolod City in 2015.*
