The Bacolod Housing Authority (BHA) awarded 20 lots in Purok Arao, Barangay Vista Alegre, to residents of the Manokan Country in Barangay 12 on Thursday, April 4, who are up for relocation, on instructions of Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez.
The first batch of 20 beneficiaries each received one lot, a press release from the Bacolod Public Information Office said.
The initiative was launched in response to the demolition activities scheduled in Barangay 12, aimed at facilitating the restoration of the renowned Manokan Country.
Benitez emphasized the importance of ensuring that displaced families are resettled before the demolition proceeds, the press release said.
“We will commence with the demolition only after relocation to Arao is completed”, Benitez said.
The BHA is actively looking for additional available lots in Arao to accommodate families from Barangay 12 affected by the Manokan Country development, the press release said.*
