Manapla woman killed by motorcycle-riding gunmen outside jail in Bago City

A 41-year-old woman was killed by motorcycle-riding gunmen as she was leaving the Negros Occidental District Jail (NODJ) in Barangay Tabunan, Bago City, Negros Occidental, at 4:08 p.m. Saturday, June 6.

The victim, identified as Lowela of Barangay 2, Manapla, succumbed to a gunshot wound to the left side of her face following the attack, which occurred just as she and her companions left the NODJ.

The police said she had just left the NODJ with two friends. The group had boarded a rented tricycle driven by a Manapla resident when an unidentified suspect on a black motorcycle fired at her with a .45 caliber pistol.

The suspects, described as two men wearing black bonnets and no helmets—one in a yellow-gold sweatshirt and the other in a black t-shirt—immediately fled the scene in an unknown direction.*
