
The Manapla Port Management, Stevedoring and Arrastre Corp. filed a complaint for alleged violation of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act against four Land Bank of the Philippines officials before the Office of the Ombudsman in the Visayas on Wednesday, March 5.
The filing of the case is in connection with a Notice of Loan Approval (NOLA) dated Oct. 23, 2023, a press release from the firm said on Thursday.
The loan application of Manapla Port Management, Stevedoring and Arrastre Corp. amounting to P180,000,000 had been approved by the LBP loan approving group. However, the release of the loan was sabotaged, the press release claimed.
“The Manapla Port is a key to economic progress in the province of Negros Occidental. It will serve to link up the new maritime route in Panay – Ajuy port – Concepcion port to Negros – Manapia port,” the press release said.
It will also provide employment, business opportunities and other support to improve the well-being of the community, it added.
The project also involves the Yacht Club to further improve tourist activities as boaters from other parts of the country will dock and visit our tourist spots, it said.
The Landbank of the Philippines officials named in the complaint frustrated a major project that would propel the country into economic recovery, it added.
The complaint was filed by lawyer Rey Gorgonio in behalf of his clients Alfredo Luis Sarrosa and Carlito Jimena.*
