A man was injured after his firearm allegedly discharged accidentally in Manapla, Negros Occidental, on Monday night, July 6.
Police identified the victim as alias “Rommel,” a resident of Brgy. Caduha-an, Cadiz City.
The incident happened at around 9 p.m. in Zone IV-AB, Brgy. Purisima.
Police said the security guard of Saint Anne Hospital informed the Manapla Municipal Police Station at around 11 p.m. that a patient with a gunshot wound had been brought to the facility.
The victim told investigators that he was about to urinate when he accidentally pulled the trigger of his firearm.
He sustained a gunshot wound to the groin, with the bullet exiting through his left buttock.
His companion immediately brought him to the hospital for treatment.
Police said they are conducting a follow-up investigation to locate and recover the firearm involved.
Initial efforts to find the weapon at the scene were unsuccessful.*
