
A 51-year-old man drowned in a river in Binalbagan, Negros Occidental. on Sunday afternoon, May 31.
Police identified the victim as alias “Mark,” a married resident of Sitio Golingan, Brgy. Bi-ao.
The incident happened at around 5 p.m. in the same area.
Initial investigation by the Binalbagan Municipal Police Station showed witnesses who were electrofishing along the river found the victim’s body floating in the water.
One of the witnesses approached the body and confirmed that the victim was unresponsive.
The victim’s family told police that he had a medical history of epilepsy.
Authorities said the victim may have suffered an acute epileptic seizure while bathing in the river, causing him to drown.
He was brought to the Binalbagan Infirmary but was declared dead by the attending physician.*
