A 42-year-old man is now the subject of a police manhunt after he allegedly stabbed and killed his younger brother following a drinking session in Sitio Pasto, Brgy. Camp Clark, Isabela, Negros Occidental, on Wednesday night, July 30.
The suspect, Warren Bahay, reportedly fled after he stabbed his 38-year-old brother, Angelo Bahay, in the chest with a knife during a heated altercation at around 10 p.m., the police said.
Maj. Joseph Partodas, Isabela Police Chief, said the siblings had been drinking at a birthday party along with a friend when the argument began.
“Witnesses said the younger brother kept teasing the suspect on the way home, to the point of annoying him,” Partodas told DIGICAST NEGROS.
The suspect allegedly stabbed Angelo in the chest.
Angelo was brought to the Ignacio Lacson Arroyo Memorial District Hospital where he was declared dead.
Police said the two brothers had no known previous disputes, suggesting the fatal stabbing was a result of intoxication and sudden provocation.
This is the latest in a string of stabbing incidents in Negros Occidental that have been linked to alcohol and heated arguments.
On July 29 in Candoni, two men stabbed each other during a drinking session, resulting in one death.
Another similar case occurred in Don Salvador Benedicto, where a man was hacked to death by a drinking companion after a fight over corn plants.
“These incidents are reminders of how alcohol, when consumed excessively, can lead to tragic consequences,” Partodas said, urging the public to drink responsibly and avoid confrontations while intoxicated.*
