Man stabbed dead by drinking buddy

A 40-year-old man died after he was stabbed multiple times by his drinking companion in Brgy. Robles, La Castellana, Negros Occidental, early Sunday morning, Oct. 5.

The police said the victim was from Hacienda Grande, Brgy. Robles, while the suspect, also 40, is a resident of Bonifacio Extension in the same barangay.

The two were drinking with a friend outside the suspect’s house at around 5:30 a.m. when a heated argument broke out due to a misunderstanding fueled by intoxication, the police said.

The altercation escalated after the victim allegedly tried to frighten the suspect’s son. The suspect then grabbed a knife and stabbed the victim several times, the police report said.

The victim was rushed to the Rural Health Unit where he was declared dead.

The police immediately launched a hot pursuit operation that led to the arrest of the suspect. He is now detained at the La Castellana Police Station.*
