Man shot, arrested after causing alarm, pointing gun at responders in MPadilla

A 35-year-old man was shot and arrested after creating a disturbance and pointing a firearm at responders in Brgy. Macagahay, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, on Monday night, March 23.

Police identified the suspect as alias “Rey,” a resident of Bacolod City.

Authorities said barangay officials reported that the suspect was causing alarm and exhibiting uncontrollable behavior at around 7:45 p.m. Monday.

Responding policemen, barangay tanods, and Philippine Army soldiers attempted to subdue the suspect, who was armed with a bladed weapon and a firearm.

Police said the suspect pointed his firearm at the responders, prompting a soldier to shoot him in the leg to neutralize the threat.

The suspect was brought to a municipal health facility and later transferred to a hospital in Kabankalan City for treatment.

Recovered from the suspect were a firearm and a bladed weapon, which were turned over to police for examination.

Charges for alarm and scandal and violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Guns and Ammunition Regulation Act are being prepared against the suspect.*
