The body of a Cauayan, Negros Occidental, resident who went missing after falling into a river during Severe Tropical Storm Opong on Friday, September 26, has been recovered.
The victim, a 62-year-old male of Purok 18, Barangay Inayawan, Cauayan, was found on Sunday, September 28, the police reported on Monday.
Fishermen discovered his body floating at sea near Purok 13, Barangay Inayawan. The Philippine Coast Guard retrieved the remains.
The victim was last seen by two children in an intoxicated state at approximately 8 p.m. on Friday as he attempted to cross a river in Purok 18, Barangay Inayawan, the police said.
Witnesses reported that he fell into the water and was immediately swept away by strong current.*
