A man was killed while a farmer was injured in a stabbing incident at Sitio Manok, Brgy. Palampas, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, on the Monday evening, Sept. 1.
The police identified the victim as Robert Joseph Cruz, 53, a farmer and resident of Sitio Manok, and the suspect as Dexter Saladas, also of the same sitio.
Initial investigation showed that the two figured in a heated argument around 7 p.m., which escalated when Saladas stabbed Cruz multiple times.
In defense, Cruz managed to stab the suspect once in the left armpit.
Both were rushed to the San Carlos City Hospital for treatment.
Saladas, however, died while being treated, while Cruz is set to be transferred to Bacolod City for further medical care.
San Carlos Police Deputy Chief Capt. Rodney Sarona said the motive of the stabbing was a personal grudge that erupted into an argument.*
