Man killed, another injured in stabbing, shooting incident

A 33-year-old man was killed while another was injured in a stabbing and shooting incident in Barangay Oringao, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, early Thursday, November 20.

Police identified the deceased as a conductor known as “Garay,” a resident of the barangay, while the injured victim is a 28-year-old driver from Purok Lumboy.

Responding officers learned that the victim and a friend were having a drinking session near the market when the suspect passed by carrying a knife.

A heated argument broke out, leading to a commotion.

Investigators said the suspect chased the victim, who fell to the ground and was stabbed.

The victim’s companion was able to seek help and subdue the suspect, causing him to lose consciousness.

Moments later, an unidentified man approached and shot the suspect before fleeing.

Both the victim and the suspect were rushed to the Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital, and the suspect was declared dead.
