Man found dead in Bacolod may have been electrocuted

A man who was found dead under a tree beside the highway in Purok 8, Barangay Tangub, Bacolod City, on August 27, may have been electrocuted, police said.

Bacolod Police Station 8 commander Capt. Greeky Cayao said members of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) found burn marks on the victim’s right hand, believed to be traces of electrocution.

The victim was identified as Jericho Perolino, 49, a resident of the barangay.

Witnesses told police they saw him holding an electric wire before he was later discovered dead under the tree on Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities also recovered from his pocket a coin purse containing a sachet of suspected shabu and a tooter.

Cayao said Perolino was a former hospital maintenance worker with no police record.

Police said they are awaiting the family’s decision on whether to allow an autopsy to confirm the cause of death but their initial investigation showed no foul play.
