A 30-year-old man drowned after he slipped and fell into the water at Palaypay Falls in Brgy. Abante, Pamplona, Negros Oriental, on Sunday afternoon, March 8.
Police identified the victim as Miguelito Caday Pastor, a resident of Sitio Pancil, Brgy. Sundu-an, Manjuyod.
Investigation showed that the victim fell into the water while climbing to the second level of the waterfalls where he allegedly intended to jump.
Authorities said the victim’s companions immediately tried to rescue him.
However, the victim was carried away by the strong current and was pulled toward the deeper part of the water.
The victim was brought to the Urgent Care Clinic in Tanjay City where he was declared dead.*
