A 51-year-old construction worker was found dead in a river in Purok Kaag-huan, Brgy. Ma-ao, Bago City, Negros Occidental, Monday afternoon, Oct. 21.
Police records showed that the body was discovered at around 12:45 p.m. by a local resident who went to fish and noticed the man lying motionless on large rocks in the middle of the Ma-ao River.
The victim’s brother said they had a drinking session at their home on Saturday evening, October 18.
The victim insisted on going to their mother’s house despite warnings not to cross the river due to heavy rain and strong currents, he added.
The victim’s body, which was already in an advanced stage of decomposition, was brought to a funeral parlor in Brgy. Ma-ao for post-mortem examination.*
