A 52-year-old laborer died after he was struck by lightning in Sitio Unob, Barangay Anahaw, Hinigaran, on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 23.
Police said the incident was reported to the Hinigaran Municipal Police Station by the victim’s wife at around 7 p.m. the following day.
Initial investigation showed that the victim was seated on the bamboo terrace of their home when heavy rain began.
Lightning reportedly hit the terrace while he was leaning on the mesh wire that served as its enclosure.
The victim was electrocuted and fell to the ground, police said.
Family members rushed him to the Hinigaran Medical Clinic, where he was declared dead.*
