Police are investigating the death of an unidentified man who was apprehended and handcuffed by security guards after he and another person were allegedly seen attempting to enter a house inside a subdivision in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, early Tuesday morning, Aug. 25.
PLt. John Patrick Linda, Talisay deputy police chief, said security guards were conducting a routine roving patrol in a subdivision in Brgy. Zone 15 when they spotted two men allegedly trying to enter a residence.
The guards chased the two, but one managed to escape while the other was apprehended and handcuffed.
According to the security guards, the man was still breathing when they restrained him.
Personnel of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office later arrived and assessed the man, but he no longer showed signs of life.
Responding police personnel found the man lying motionless at the subdivision shortly after midnight.
Linda said no visible wounds were found on the body during the initial examination.
The unidentified man was estimated to be in his mid-40s, about 5 feet and 4 inches tall, of small build, and had a dollar-sign tattoo below one of his eyes.
Police said no items were recovered from him at the time of his apprehension.
The body was turned over to Scene of the Crime Operatives for further examination to determine the cause of death and help establish his identity.
“The investigation is already with SOCO to determine the cause of death. There were no visible wounds on his body,” Linda said.
Police are also continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the apprehension and the events leading to the man’s death.*
