
A 47-year-old man was reportedly caught in the act of illegally tapping electricity in Paglaum Village, Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City, on Monday, July 14.
The suspect, identified as Benito Bonza, a resident of Paglaum Village, was allegedly seen directly connecting wires to a Negros Power service line at around 1:38 p.m., according to a police blotter report.
A video shows Bonza climbing an electricity post before his apprehension. He was brought to Bacolod Police Station 7 at about 2:45 p.m., the report said.
Bonza will face charges for allegedly violating Republic Act 7832, or the Anti-Electricity and Electric Transmission Lines/Materials Pilferage Act.*
