The Land Transportation Office–Negros Island Region has issued a show cause order against a modernized jeepney driver over alleged use of a mobile phone while driving in Bacolod City.
The order was served to the operator of the transport company, with the firm’s human resources officer receiving the document on behalf of the driver, the LTO said in a statement issued Wednesday, March 25.
The action stemmed from a complaint backed by video footage showing the driver using a cellphone while operating the vehicle.
The same incident also showed the jeepney engaging in unsafe lane switching, posing a risk to other motorists.
The violation was observed on March 16.
LTO-NIR personnel said the contents of the order were explained to the party concerned.
The agency reminded drivers and operators to strictly follow traffic rules, particularly the prohibition on mobile phone use while driving.*
