LTO-NIR warns public against impostors using officials’ names

The Land Transportation Office-Negros Island Region (LTO-NIR) has warned the public against individuals allegedly posing as agency officials and using their names in unauthorized communications.

In a public advisory issued Sunday, June 14, LTO-NIR urged the public to exercise caution when receiving calls, text messages, or other forms of communication claiming to be from OIC Regional Director Jeck D. Conlu or Assistant Regional Director Monico A. Puentevella Jr.

The agency specifically identified mobile number 0927-747-6944 as among those being used in the alleged scheme.

LTO-NIR advised the public not to immediately entertain or act on requests from individuals claiming to represent the agency without first verifying their identities.

The agency encouraged concerned individuals to coordinate with any LTO-NIR office or employee to confirm the authenticity of such communications before responding or providing personal information.

LTO-NIR said it remains committed to protecting the public from fraudulent activities and reminded motorists and stakeholders to remain vigilant against possible scams.

The agency urged the public to report suspicious communications and verify transactions through official LTO channels.*
