The Land Transportation Office–Negros Island Region has issued 35 show-cause orders since its establishment in 2025 as part of its intensified campaign to promote road safety and discipline.
LTO-NIR Regional Director Jeck Conlu said on Friday, Feb. 6, that most of the show-cause orders were issued to drivers of private and public utility vehicles for violations such as involvement in road crash incidents, reckless driving, and other traffic-related offenses.
Records showed that a significant number of the cases were processed during the peak months of November and December.
To further strengthen enforcement, the LTO-NIR launched a dedicated social media monitoring team in January to track viral photos and videos showing traffic violations within the region.
Under the protocol, potential violations spotted online are first identified by the social media team, verified by the Investigation and Intelligence Unit, and followed by the issuance of a show-cause order once validated, the LTO said.
“Public safety and road safety are non-negotiable,” Conlu said, adding that strict monitoring and enforcement will continue to ensure safer roads across the Negros Island Region.
The LTO-NIR urged motorists to observe traffic laws and reminded the public that driving is a privilege that carries responsibility to ensure the safety of others.*
