The Land Transportation Office-Negros Island Region has identified the registered owner of a vehicle seen in a viral video allegedly swerving across lanes and entering the opposite lane of traffic.
On Aug. 11, LTO-NIR said its Intelligence and Investigation Unit traced the vehicle to an owner based in Iloilo City.
The agency withheld the identity of the registered owner and other vehicle details while administrative proceedings are ongoing.
A show cause order has been prepared for service to the registered owner and the driver involved, LTO-NIR said.
The vehicle has also been placed under interim alarm while the investigation continues.
LTO-NIR is coordinating with its Region 6 counterpart in Iloilo to facilitate the service of the order and help identify the persons involved.
The agency said the incident may constitute reckless driving under Section 48 of Republic Act 4136, or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code, along with other possible violations that may be established during the investigation.
