As thousands of Negrenses travel across the region to honor their departed loved ones for Undas, the traditional observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day on November 1 and 2, the Land Transportation Office-Negros Island Region (LTO-NIR) has issued a reminder to all deployed field enforcers to maintain the highest standards of courtesy, professionalism, and respectful public service.
The directive was issued under the agency’s “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos–Undas 2026” operations on Sunday, October 25, which aims to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient transportation during the peak holiday travel period.
LTO-NIR Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Regional Director Jeck D. Conlu, in an LTO-NIR Facebook post, stressed the critical role of law enforcement personnel in serving the public with dignity and respect.
Conlu cautioned enforcers against engaging in dismissive, impatient, or unruly behavior, emphasizing that every motorist, commuter, and passenger deserves fair and considerate treatment.
To maintain proper public assistance standards, Conlu instructed personnel on handling public inquiries effectively.
Enforcers who are unable to immediately answer specific questions from passengers are required to reassure the individual and promptly escalate or direct the inquiry to the LTO Operations Office for accurate guidance.
In addition to public assistance and enforcement courtesy, LTO-NIR personnel are actively conducting comprehensive inspections at major land transport terminals and along key thoroughfares throughout the region.
These proactive safety checks and roadside operations are designed to verify vehicle roadworthiness, prevent road crashes, and maintain traffic discipline over the holiday period, the LTO Facebook post said.*
