LTO-NIR asks Ford Everest driver in Bacolod road rage incident to come forward

The Land Transportation Office-Negros Island Region has urged the driver of a Ford Everest involved in an alleged road rage incident in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City, on Oct. 26, to voluntarily appear before the agency.

LTO-NIR officer-in-charge Regional Director Jeck Conlu said the agency has already identified the vehicle’s registered owner, whose address on record is in Luzon.

A show cause order will be issued to the registered owner as part of the agency’s investigation.

He added that authorities would eventually be able to identify the driver.

LTO-NIR said the Ford Everest was involved in an incident with a modernized jeepney in Mansilingan, with the driver’s alleged actions reportedly placing passengers and other road users at risk.

“We will not tolerate this kind of behavior from drivers, especially when their actions put other road users in danger,” Conlu said.

He urged the driver, if currently in Bacolod City or elsewhere in Negros Island, to cooperate with the investigation and personally appear before the LTO-NIR.

The agency said a formal investigation will be conducted once the driver is identified or appears before the office.

Possible administrative sanctions, including suspension or revocation of the driver’s license, may be considered depending on the results of the investigation and applicable rules.

Conlu said the fact that the vehicle’s registered owner has an address in Luzon would not prevent LTO-NIR from pursuing the case.*
