Sixteen individuals in Negros and Panay have been permanently disqualified from possessing a driver’s license since January this year due to severe traffic infractions, the Land Transportation Office-Western Visayas (LTO-6) reported on Monday. Oct. 20.
Among these are a male motorist in Iloilo City and a female motorist in Bacolod City, “who presented fraudulent permits for renewal in May this year.”
Regional Director Gaudioso Geduspan II ordered the perpetual disqualification of the two who attempted to renew fake driver’s licenses.
Each license number did not match the agency’s official records, while the documents were unregistered in the Land Transportation Management System.
The Iloilo motorist admitted to paying PHP4,500 to a fixer in 2020.
“Though both claimed ignorance, Director Geduspan ruled that their actions constituted a grave violation of licensing regulations, deeming them unfit to operate vehicles,” it added.
The others include four passengers filmed performing dangerous stunts, one of them a man clad only in underwear while dancing on the roof of the vehicle, according to the Intelligence and Investigation Unit.
Also banned from obtaining a driver’s license is a 20-year-old mechanic with a student permit, caught in a viral video drag racing using the motorcycle of a customer without permission, and a motorist who executed an extremely dangerous “Superman” stunt on a motorcycle.
“All disqualified individuals are placed under an alarm list, ensuring they can never legally operate a motor vehicle in the Philippines,” the LTO-6 said.
LTO-6 likewise revoked 28 drivers’ licenses and suspended nine others.
An offender with a revoked license can apply for reinstatement after the prescribed period of at least two years.
The suspension of a driver’s license can be lifted after the period imposed.
To date, LTO-6 has issued 280 show-cause orders to violators, of which 132 have been resolved.*
