Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board – Negros Island Region (LTFRB-NIR) director Gerry Llena on Tuesday, March 24, said he will look into complaints that some drivers were not included in the LTFRB list of those entitled to aid amid the rising prices of fuel.
Rudy Catedral, president of the Bacolod Alliance for Commuters, Operators and Drivers-Manibela, on Monday said they submitted a list of 380 driver-members to be included as recipients of government assistance, but the LTFRB only approved 240.
Catedral also said his name was not among those included in the list.
Llena said he heard that Catedral stated that he listed two drivers per jeepney, but the LTFRB central office only allows one driver per jeep to be entitled to subsidy.
The LTFRB guidelines state that a driver will be entitled to subsidy if he is driving a jeepney that has a franchise or provisional authority, Llena said.
If the driver has met the requirements but by oversight was not included in the list that can be corrected, he said.
But 95 percent of the LTFRB data that is computerized is accurate, Llena pointed out, said.
Llena has been appealing to officials of NIR local government units to also provide additional assistance to the public transport drivers, to augment aid from the national government.*
