Lower alert levels of towns, cities with high vax rates, Capitol asks

The provincial government is asking the Department of Health (DOH) to lower the alert levels of towns and cities in Negros Occidental that have high COVID-19 vaccination performances, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said Tuesday, March 29.

This will enable local government units (LGUs) that have been performing well to enjoy their efforts under lower alert levels, while keeping those with poor vaccination performances at higher alert levels, he said.

This will serve as a reminder to LGUs who continue to have low vaccination numbers to ramp up their efforts, Diaz added.

At present the alert level ranking is based on the overall performance of all LGUs in Negros Occidental.

Negros Occidental has remained under Alert Level 2 because of the low percentage of its overall target population that has been vaccinated.

Negros Occidental had fully vaccinated 1,260,004 or 60.05 percent of its 2,098,421 target population as of March 26, Diaz said.

Due for their second doses are 106,935 residents or 5.10 percent of the target population, he added.

The LGUs with more than 30,000 remaining unvaccinated targets as of March 26 are Kabankalan City with 64,548, San Carlos City – 55,028, Bago City – 45,632, Cauayan – 41,406, Calatrava – 37,319, Himamaylan City – 32,553, Sagay City – 31,113, Escalante City – 30,611 and Hinigaran 30,310, Diaz said.

The LGUs with less than 10,000 of their target population left to be vaccinated as of March 26 are: Pulupandan – 4,083, San Enrique – 4,684, Candoni – 5,460, La Carlota City – 7,783 and Salvador Benedicto – 8,297.

The six LGUs who have fully vaccinated more than 70 percent of their target populations are La Carlota City – 81.81 percent, Pulupandan – 78.62 percent, Cadiz City -75.03 percent, EB Magalona – 71.60 percent, Sagay City – 70.85 percent and San Enrique – 70.50 percent.
