Vice President Leni Robredo visited the Saint Vincent’s Home for the Aged in Bacolod City Thursday afternoon, March 10, where a Bicolana nun who used to give Holy communion to her late mother while she was hospitalized in Naga now works.

Sister Soledad Albao had written to Robredo to ask her to visit the Saint Vincent’s Home.

Albao, who was assigned to the Mother Seton Hospital in Naga City for nine years, gave Holy communion to the vice president’s mother, Salvacion Gerona, every time she was hospitalized at the hospital.

Gerona died at 83 on February 22, 2020.

Gerona was also the nun’s research teacher when she took her master’s degree in social work at the Universidad de Sta. Isabel run by the Daughters of Charity in Naga City.

Albao, in her letter, told Robredo that of the five nuns at the St. Vincent’s Home, four of them are senior citizens already.

She said they could not attend Robredo’s rally but they hoped she could drop by their home for a few minutes.

“We are always praying for you wherever you are and wherever you go. We are solid Leni-Kiko here,” Albao wrote.

Robredo was welcomed at the St. Vincent’s home Thursday afternoon by cheering supporters in pink, the elderly and nuns waving pink flaglets.

The nuns also prayed over Robredo before she left, Token Lizares said.*
