Lacson, six others leaving for Australia, Ferrer acting guv

Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson will lead a Negros Occidental provincial government delegation to Darwin, Australia, from November 5 to 11.

Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer has been designated acting governor while Lacson is in Australia, and Board Member Manuel Frederick Ko will be acting vice governor.

The governor’s delegation is composed of Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz, Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center head Ma. Cristina Orbecido, Tourism Officer Cheryl Decena , Executive Assistant IV Charina Magallanes Tan, Scholarship Program Division head Karen Dinsay and Project Development Officer 1 for Disaster Risk Reduction Irene Bel Ploteña.

Lacson will meet with Darwin officials and partners of Negros Occidental to discuss job placement and training opportunities for Negrenses in Australia, Diaz said.

They will meet with the mayor of Darwin, and tourism, disaster and education officials in Australia, he said.

Diaz said they are also taking time to look at the conditions of the Negros Occidental working students and graduates who are employed in Darwin to ensure that their welfare is well protected.

The governor and his team will be back in Negros Occidental on November 12.*
