Negrense senatorial candidate Alex Lacson said the support for the presidential bid of Vice President Leni Robredo has increased more than the 9 percentage points reported in the latest Pulse Asia survey.

Lacson, who was campaigning in Bacolod City on Thursday, April 7, was reacting to the Pulse Asia survey conducted on March 17-21 that showed Robredo’s numbers increasing by nine percentage points.

The Pulse Asia’s survey results released on Wednesday showed Robredo’s numbers grow from 15 percent in February to 24 percent in March.

Lacson said he believes the increase in support for Robredo is more than 9 percentage points because he has been with her in her campaign sorties.

“In practically all provinces that we have been to the support for VP Leni has been overwhelming…the support of the people for her has been snowballing” on the ground, he said.

The 9 percent is low, the survey has not captured the real pulse of the people, which is higher than that, he said.

He also pointed out that Robredo is the top searched presidential candidate on Google trends. She is way ahead on Google trends and they say whoever tops that usually wins in the elections, he said.

One of the best indicators of people’s support for a candidate is also seen at rallies, he also said.

There are also more politicians now showing their support Robredo because they know their supporters are for her, Lacson said.

Lacson, who has been campaigning in Negros this week, said the show of support for him by the people on learning that he is a Negrense has been very good.

On Thursday while in the second district of Negros Occidental he had the support of Cadiz Mayor Salvador Escalante, Sagay Mayor Alfredo Marañon III represented by his brother Atoy Marañon, and Rep. Rafael Leo Cueva (Neg. Occ., 2nd District).

Meanwhile, Lacson said he was disappointment that the speech of his surrogate speaker Gas Uy at a Robredo rally in Bohol was spliced and distorted to make it appear to be in favor of presidential candidate Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and posted on Tiktok.

“I am against fake news, and I condemn the act of using that as fake news,” he said, noting that it has had more than 3 million views, 7,000 reactions and 6,000 shares.*
