Himamaylan City Mayor Raymund Tongson said on Monday, March 7, that the top two officials of Negros Occidental supporting different presidential candidates but remaining united on the local level ensures a win-win situation for the province.
Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Lacson is supporting Leni Robredo and Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer is for Ferdinand “BBM” Marcos Jr.
Tongson, regional chairman of BBM 2022 in Western Visayas, said Lacson and Ferrer’s ensuring that the local political coalition remains solid despite their having different presidential candidates shows their sincerity in serving the province.
This just goes to show that Negros will remain united no matter what happens, Tongson said.
The advantage of their supporting different presidential candidates is that they will be able to seek help for Negros from whoever wins, he said.
ROBREDO VISIT
Robredo is arriving in Negros Occidental on Friday, March 11, for a provincewide campaign.
A crowd of about 35,000 is expected at the Paglaum Stadium in Bacolod City for a grand rally, with more expected to gather at Lacson and Hernaez streets, Pinky Ocampo, Laban Leni Negros spokesperson, said.*
