Negros Occ. Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer led the inauguration and turnover ceremony of a school building at the La Carlota City College in La Carlota City, Tuesday morning, December 20.

The P40 million 12-classroom building was funded by the provincial government, Provincial Engineer Ernie Mapa said.

Lacson said that the inauguration of the new school building is a welcome development in the provincial government’s goal to enhance and strengthen the educational system.

He also said that it is of greater significance in light of the challenges that the country’s educational system recently encountered during the pandemic.

The governor also lauded the school administration, faculty, and staff for their dedication to the education of the Negrense youth.

“I hope that this edifice of learning will stand for many years, as an instrument to impart the light of truth, knowledge, and wisdom to our fellow Negrenses,” he said.

La Carlota City Mayor Rex Jalando-on, together with Sangguniang Panlungsod Member Josefina Jalandoni, chair of the SP Committee on Education, and college president Dr. Virgie Rendon also joined the event.

The activity started with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, blessing of the building, unveiling of the marker, followed by a short program.*
