Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson denied rumors that he took his oath as member of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
“That’s not true, I’ve been a founding member of the NPC (Nationalist People’s Coalition) since 1992,” Lacson said on Tuesday, July 23.
The PFP president is Gov. Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. and its chairman is President Marcos.
Tamayo has an open invitation to all governors to join the PFP, Lacson said.
“I explained that I’ve been a loyal NPC member since 1992 and I’m already on my final years in public service and so I would like to maintain my status with the NPC,” he said.
He also pointed out that there is already an alliance between NPC and PFP along with the National Unity Party, Lakas and the Nacionalista Party.
“We are now grouped as one and have one direction for the next midterm elections,” he said.
He also pointed out that he supported Leni Robredo in the last presidential election “so delicadeza tells me that I should not lead the PFP, that should be given to more deserving elected officials here in Negros Occidental”.*
