The La Castellana municipal government in Negros Occidental is temporarily banning the entry of live pigs, pork, semen, and pork by-products to protect its hog industry.
The ban will take effect on Monday, June 22, an announcement on the town’s Facebook page said on Sunday.
“This is a step to strengthen our biosecurity against the spreading infectious swine disease,” the post read.
The official statement or executive order from Mayor Añejo Nicor will be released Monday, the announcement said.*
