The 30-bed La Castellana Municipal Hospital to be built at Hda. Grande, Barangay Robles in La Castellana town, Negros Occidental, got an additional boost from two congressmen, La Castellana Mayor Rhummyla Nicor Mangilimutan said.

Rep. Emilio “Dino” Yulo III (Neg. Occ., 5th District) and Rep. James “Jojo” Ang Jr. (Uswag- Ilonggo Partylist) committed P5 million each for the new hospital at its groundbreaking rites on Saturday, April 1.

The La Castellana municipal government had initially allocated P30 million for the construction of the hospital from its P300 million Land Bank of the Philippines loan, so with the additional funds committed they now have P40 million, Mangilimutan said.

The first-level hospital will be built on a 2,500-square meter property donated by the Jalandoni family represented Coco Jalandoni Garcia, she said. It is targeted to be completed in 12 months.

She said the priority of her administration is healthcare services for the underprivileged.

The hospital will address health needs and emergency cases not only of her constituents but of those from adjacent local government units, she said.

Dr. Adriano Suba- an, Department of Health 6 regional director, said the DOH will provide technical support for the hospital.

Mangilimutan said aside from the hospital, the rest of the P300 million Land Bank of the Philippines loan of La Castellana will be used for the town’s sanitary landfill and for acquisition of equipment and vehicles for the barangays to be used during disasters and emergencies.

She said Senator Bong Go also sent P700,000 in assistance for indigents.*
