“Every vote counts, it’s a very tight race”, former senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan said on Wednesday, April 30, as he appealed for vote-rich Negros Occidental’s help.

Pangilinan, who is running as an independent senatorial candidate, thanked Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and former governor Rafael Coscolluela for their support during his visit to the provincial Capitol in Bacolod City.

Lacson and Coscolluela are endorsing Pangilinan and former senator Bam Aquino for senator.

“This will be a big help because Negros is a vote rich province, right now the race is very tight with nine candidates tied for the last three slots,” Pangilinan said.

Negros Occidental is the province with the sixth largest voting population in the country.

Pangilinan said he hopes the endorsements of Lacson and Coscolluela, and the support of the Negrenses will consolidate his 10th place in the race for 12 Senate seats.

“Please don’t just vote for us, campaign for us, help us, don’t forget us”, he said, as he appealed for support for himself and Aquino.

“If voters want senators with experience and track records who have done no wrong in terms of corruption to win, I hope they embrace our candidacies,” Pangilinan said.

He said Negrenses elected him senator three times and gave him a lot of support in his run for vice president.

Pangilinan said he has committed to Lacson that he will support whatever his legacy projects are for Negros if he wins a seat in the Senate.

He will also push for food security, and more funding for agriculture and fisheries modernization, said Pangilinan, who celebrated his 29th wedding anniversary with megastar Sharon Cuneta on Monday, April 28.*
