Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia called on residents to do their part to keep safe against COVID-19 during the holidays.
“It is everyone’s most favorite season once again. But then, time has not yet allowed us to return to the manner of celebration we were accustomed to,” Lacson said in his Christmas message Thursday, December 23.
“This season, give the gift of protection to your loved ones and get vaccinated. Let’s do our part to keep everyone safe against COVID-19, he added.
Leonardia also said the best Christmas gift we can give to our loved ones is still to follow health protocols.
“We still have to grapple with this pandemic and we cannot take this for granted,” he said.
He assured Bacolodnons that the city government will do everything it can to hurdle the pandemic,
The COVID-19 vaccination rate of Bacolod is one of the highest in the country and very, very soon the city will hit herd immunity to hasten the road to recovery and normalcy, he said.
San Carlos Bishop Gerardo Alminaza, in his Christmas message, said we must inclusively respond to the state of calamity by uplifting the lives of those heavily affected, restoring public utility services and attending to the needs of ordinary Filipinos, especially the poor.*
