Kanlaon emits ash twice on Wednesday

Kanlaon Volcano, which remains under Alert Level 2 or increased unrest, emitted ash twice on Wednesday morning, October 15.

The first ash emission occurred at 6:54 a.m. and lasted for 46 minutes, said Daryll Arro, Science Research Analyst of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

The second ash emission was at 7:50 a.m. and lasted 23 minutes.

They did not received any reports of ashfall in nearby communities, he said.

PHIVOLCS also reported 17 volcanic earthquakes and 3,370 tons of sulfur dioxide flux at Kanlaon on October 15 covering the 24 hour observation period.*
