Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson joined the 24th Charter Day Anniversary celebration of Kabankalan City, with the theme “Pagbangon kag Pag-isa sa Tunga sang Pandemya (Rising up and uniting in the midst of the pandemic),” led by Mayor Pedro Zayco Jr. and Vice Mayor Raul Rivera, on Monday, August 2.
The progress of Kabankalan City, including the businesses coming in can be greatly attributed to the good governance of Kabankalan’s public officials, Lacson said.
He said that Kabankalan is one of the largest, most dynamic and progressive cities of Negros Occidental.
“To the people of Kabankalan, we in the government and public service, understand the hardships and difficulty you are going through, however I want you to know that we are doing everything under the circumstance to mitigate the effects of this health and economic crisis,” he said.
“Let us unite and cooperate with the present rules and protocols, for unless we are unified, we can never get past this present crisis; we have to do this together,” he added.
Zayco stressed the need for faith in God during this pandemic.
“This is the second charter day celebrated during the pandemic. Next year, we do not know what life will be for all of us. Everything is uncertain,” he said.
“I know how difficult it is for all us. Yet look at us now, we are still here, standing strong.
Remember, uncertainty is inevitable. Only one thing is constant and this is our strong faith in God. No matter how challenging things are, there is nowhere to go. But keep moving forward. Turning back is not an option for us,” Zayco said .
The Kabankalan Hymn was launched at the program.
Also present in the activity were board members Jeffrey Tubola and Miguel Alonso, former governor and Kabankalan mayor Isidro Zayco, former 6th District Rep. Mercedes Alvarez, and the city’s Sangguniang Panlungsod members.*
