The Kabankalan City government has continued to intensify its measures against the dreaded African swine fever.

As part of its measures against the dreaded virus, the city has placed a checkpoint at its demonstration farm from 8 a.m. to 5 pm., the city government said Thursday, August 5.

Hog raisers are required to inform the personnel at the checkpoint of the point of origin of the hogs they are selling.

Due to its intensified measures, Kabankalan City was cited by the province for its effort to keep Negros Occidental ASF-free.

Kabankalan is a gateway to Negros Oriental.

The provincial government is hellbent on protecting the hogs from the virus and keeping the multi-billion industry safe, as they continue to sustain their efforts as there is still a threat of ASG from adjacent provinces.

Negros Occidental is the top swine producer in Western Visayas, and the fourth in the whole Philippines.*
