July 7 consultation set for transfer of 450 remains from collapsed Burgos graves

A consultative meeting with more than 120 relatives of the deceased is set for Tuesday, July 7, at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) lobby to coordinate the urgent transfer of 450 human remains from the collapsed graves of the Burgos Public Cemetery.

Mayor Greg Gasataya said  meeting as part of the local government’s proactive measures to address safety concerns surrounding the decaying structures.

The affected remains are scheduled to be relocated to the newly established Handumanan Cemetery Bone Vault.

Gasataya said  the structural integrity of the collapsed graves poses immediate dangers and health risks, particularly to pedestrians and passing motorists along the busy Lopez Jaena Street. *
